The Passenger Rail Agency has appointed Krishna Govender as acting group chief financial officer with immediate effect, it announced on Friday.
The position had been left vacant by the departure of Lesibana Fosu.
According to the rail agency, Govender is a Chartered Accountant, a member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
He has been working as part of the technical advisory team to Prasa Administrator Bongisizwe Mpondo. The rail agency was placed under administration in December 2019.
"I’m certain that under his stewardship, we will see great improvement in the Group Finance department, which will stand us in good stead as we fulfil the mandate I was given by Transport Minister, Honourable Fikile Mbalula at the beginning of my tenure," said Mpondo.
