Johannesburg - On Friday, the Pretoria High Court dismissed an intervention application lodged by the former acting CEO of the Passenger Rail Agency of SA, Collins Letsoalo, which sought to allow him to be included in the parastatal’s axed board’s court challenge to be reinstated.
Judge Peter Mabuse said Letsoalo had failed to convince the court that he deserved to join the board’s application as a respondent.
Letsoalo had sought the court’s permission to join on the basis that he wanted the opportunity to clear his name. He claimed he had material evidence to assist the court.
Advocate William Mokhari, who represented Letsoalo, argued that his client was justified in intervening as he had a direct and substantial interest in the matter.
However, Advocate David Unterhalter, acting on behalf of the board, argued that Letsoalo did not have the right to seek any intervention because none of the issues affected him.
