Cape Town – PetroSA could be set to cut its workforce by close to 40%, according to a letter from the CEO released to the media.
EWN has released a memo addressed to the regional secretary of the Chemical Paper Printing Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) which states that “the number of employees likely to be affected and the job categories in which they are employed is close to 40% of the current workforce and across all levels of employees”.
The PetroSA CEO, Nosizwe Nokwe-Macomo, has cited operational requirements as the reason for the job cuts. “The reasons for the proposed dismissal are feedstock depletion, oil price reduction, and declining revenues due to low production volumes.”
