Pule laments Moholi's Telkom departure

Johannesburg - Communications Minister Dina Pule would have "loved" outgoing Telkom CEO Nombulelo Moholi to stay on, it was reported on Wednesday.

"As a department, we would have loved to have [Moholi] staying in the company," Business Day reported her as saying on Tuesday.

"She understands Telkom. However if she has taken a decision to resign, there is nothing we can do."

Telkom announced on Monday that Moholi and the parastatal's board director Neo Phakama Dongwana had resigned.

Website BDlive reported that Pule voted off four board members at Telkom's annual general meeting (AGM) in October.

The AGM was last chaired by Lazarus Zim, who announced his resignation as Telkom chairperson in September.

Moholi had rejected speculation that she intended resigning after Zim left.

She was appointed CEO in April last year after acting head Jeffrey Hedberg decided earlier in 2011 not to renew his contract.
