MTN director resigns suddenly

Johannesburg - Shareholders are advised that Nazir Patel, the group chief financial officer and executive financial director on the board of directors of MTN Group resigned with immediate effect.

Patel explained to the company that he does not wish his continued employment with the company to prejudice the company in respect of certain allegations made against him, which are subject to an ongoing investigation which had been commissioned by the company.

Brett Goschen has been appointed as group chief financial officer and executive financial director on the board, with immediate effect.

Goschen joined the group as chief financial officer of MTN Nigeria in 2002. He was appointed chief executive officer of MTN Ghana in 2006 and returned to MTN Nigeria as chief executive officer in 2011.

The board is confident that Goschen has the appropriate expertise and experience for his new role.
