Cape Town - Alan Knott-Craig stepped down as CEO of Cell C and Jose Dos Santos will take the helm, chairperson Mohammed Hariri said in a statement on Thursday.
Knott-Craig, who suffered a stroke in November last year, has made a remarkable recovery, Hariri said.
He will take up a new post as an executive board member.
"In his new role he will consult and advise on matters not only relating to Cell C, but also concerning the Oger Telecom Group."
Knott-Craig joined Cell C on April 1 2012. He helped found Vodacom in 1993 and served as its chief executive from 1996 to 2008.
Jose Dos Santos, who had been running the company in the interim, has been appointed as the new chief executive officer.
