Johannesburg - Private health giant Netcare and Nehawu resumed pay talks on Tuesday after the union stepped up protests, Nehawu spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said.
In a meeting last Monday, Netcare raised its pay offer to members of the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) from 7.2% to 7.25%. Pamla said this was rejected.
"We viewed the offer as an insult to our members who have toiled so hard to build Netcare to what it is today."
Nehawu members employed at the hospital group embarked on a strike on April 16.
Netcare human resources director Peter Warrener said the strike had not had a serious effect on its daily operations.
