Johannesburg - Former international relations and health director general Ayanda Ntsaluba has been appointed an executive director of Discovery Holdings [JSE:DSY], as well as a director of subsidiaries Discovery Health, Discovery Life and Vitality Healthstyle.

His appointment comes into effect on July 1.

Ntsaluba, an obstetrician and gynaecologist, also holds an MSc in health policy planning and financing from the University of London and an executive MBA from the University of Cape Town. He has completed training programmes in international relations, political economy and philosophy (Moscow Institute of Social Sciences), health leadership (Cambridge University), and a senior executive programme (Harvard University and the University of the Witwatersrand), the firm said on Monday.

Before joining Discovery, Ntsaluba was director general of the department of international relations and cooperation and, prior to that, director general of the department of health.
