FNB apologises for technical issues, says services have been restored

Cape Town - First National Bank on Friday afternoon apologised to South Africans for "technical issues" that impeded access to its banking services.

Peter Alkema, FNB Technology spokesperson, said that by 15:30 "full banking services had been restored".

At around 11:00, the bank had said it was "aware of an intermittent technical issue that is impacting access to select services" and was "working hard to resolve the matter and restore services".

Earlier in the day South Africans took to social media to complain about banking services not working.

Two Capetonians told Fin24 that when they tried to withdraw cash from an FNB ATM in the Cape Town city centre near Parliament, they received a slip that showed their money had been paid out, but no cash came out of the machine.
