The deal, between Johnnic e-Ventures (Johnnic Group's online division) and AC Brabys will be effective from April 1.
Brabys will be Ananzi's third owners. Johnnic bought it from its original owners, Internet Solution, in 1998.
While keeping the transaction figure under wraps, Johnnic e-Ventures (JeV) CEO Neil Jacobsohn, said in a joint statement on Thursday that the sale of Ananzi was the company's final step in its "strategy to focus purely on the business-to-business and learning markets".
"We have been steadily divesting of all our consumer-facing internet assets, which started with the sale of our share in TicketWeb in November last year. The sale of Ananzi completes the process, leaving us free to continue our strong growth in online business and learning services."
Brabys' MD Des Isaacs has hailed the acquisition of the search engine as he says this will help his company to "entrench our leading position in the directories market".
The statement said that Ananzi's monthly page impressions had reached a 6.9 million mark.
Ananzi was rated the third most-recognised internet brand in SA in the last Webcheck survey.
Ananzi business manager Mark Buwalda is to continue heading the business and will move his team to Brabys.
As part of the transaction, Ananzi servers and technical infrastructure will continue to be run and managed by Citec, the Johnnic/MTN ISP subsidiary.
