Cape Town – In the run-up to one of the most closely watched government events locally and by rating agencies and investors abroad, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has invited South Africans to submit their tips on what they would like to see in the National Budget Speech.
Gordhan will present the 2017 Budget Address on February 22 against the backdrop of sluggish economic growth, the looming threat of a possible credit downgrade and the fees must fall campaign as well as uncertainty in the global economy.
The budget must therefore be a balancing act, giving attention to various competing priorities, National Treasury said in a statement.
