Johannesburg - If you're happy to have your car painted in some garish corporate colours and adorned with a logo and sales message, you could earn as much as R2 000 a month. This is courtesy of brandyourcar.com, the latest off-the-wall idea from Primedia Unlimited.
Already thousands of hopeful moving billboards have registered on the website.
"For advertisers we've created an exclusive mobile platform within environments where typical consumers spend time," says executive head of sales Reinhard Korb.
"Imagine exposure through branded vehicles along their travelling routes to and from the gym, the supermarket, specific schools, or sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic on main arterial routes.
"A sportswear brand can select to advertise on specific 4X4 makes driven by men under 35 who travel regularly to the gym and sports clubs. These drivers are already the brand's target audience, but now they go on to become brand ambassadors while travelling their regular routes.
"To maximise exposure, we could further incentivise these drivers to use the medium more tactically, perhaps by ensuring their presence at these locations at specific times."
The driver gets his regular paintwork protected from UV damage, and certain insurance companies will discount premiums for cars that are particularly conspicuous and less attractive to thieves or hijackers. A monthly photograph is needed to prove that the branding has been maintained.
All you've got to do is log on to www.brandyourcar.com and put in your personal details. Brandyourcar.com will then match advertisers objectives with a selection of cars and drivers who meet their criteria. Rates range from R1 000 a month to R2 000, depending on the value of the car.
