Following the rebranding of the first 10 Mediclinic buildings, all of the 52 Mediclinic hospitals in Southern Africa, as well as five regional offices, will in due course be rebranded, says Steve Drinkrow, infrastructure executive of Mediclinic Southern Africa.
During this year each hospital will also be able to pride itself on a new “brand wall”, prominently displaying the new brand name together with the motto “Expertise you can Trust.”. In addition, environmentally-friendly pot plants such as the Areca palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens), the Money Plant (Epipremnum aureum) and Mother-in-Law’s Tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata) will decorate the reception area in all the hospitals, manifesting the brand drivers practical and human by producing more oxygen.
At the same time, all the hospital clocks will be replaced with a well-known Swiss brand, demonstrating the brand drivers “deliberate” and “exacting” and reinforcing Mediclinic’s commitment to precision and quality.
Newly-branded stationery has been largely delivered, the Mediclinic website has been revamped and new crockery and bedding will gradually be phased in. Wherever the old logo is displayed on consumable items, it will be phased out within the next year. Similarly, branding on vehicles, flags, payslips, promotional items and a myriad of other applications is all being redone.
Apart from new signage being installed on the exterior of every hospital in the coming year, the rest of the rebranding will take place over the next number of year as hospitals are upgraded and will incorporate the new look and feel in every aspect of the hospital group, from the reception areas, corridors, nursing units, lighting, internal wayfinding and material, to forms, artwork and printed material.
“Given the sheer volume and cost of this exercise, it cannot happen overnight at all the Southern African hospitals, so it will be phased in over time, normally to coincide with the scheduled 10-year upgrades at the respective hospitals,” Drinkrow explains.
