Johannesburg - South African paper maker Mondi will enter the Johannesburg JSE's blue chip Top 40 on Friday, replacing fixed-line phone group Telkom, index compiler JSE Limited said on Tuesday.
Telkom will be demoted to the mid-cap stocks, having lost a major part of its valuation after selling and spinning off its stake in wireless phone group Vodacom Group, its main earnings driver.
Mondi, which also trades in London, appears to be moving out of the slump after forecasting an improvement in volumes and said cost cuts had left poised to perform well in the year ahead.
