Washington - Consumer prices rose last month in the United States by a seasonally adjusted 0.2 per cent, the Bureau of Labour Statistics reported Tuesday.
Inflation was 0.1% in February. For the last 12 months, the consumer price index rose 1.5%.
The rate-setting US Federal Reserve has been closely watching the cost of living as it continues tapering its bond-buying, so-called quantitative easing, an unorthodox monetary policy implemented to boost US economic growth and jolt low inflation toward the central bank's long-term target of 2%.
So-called core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, was 0.2% last month.
For the last 12 months, the core rate was 1.7%.
