Johannesburg - Digital startups from South Africa and the continent are invited to enter Africa’s premier launch pad for emerging technologies, Demo Africa.
The deadline for submissions is August 31 2017. The platform offers technology entrepreneurs an opportunity to meet with potential investors and technology buyers.
Each of the 30 startups selected will be provided with mentorship and tools worth more than R3.3m.
Gauteng will host Demo Africa for the second time and the event will take place on November 23 and 24 at the Birchwood Hotel and Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
Gauteng premier David Makhura said the province recognises that Demo Africa attracts the best emerging technology firms in Africa and introduces new technology trends and investment opportunities to about 2 000 investors.
“Demo Africa is well suited to the economic profile and economic development plan of the Gauteng Province,” Makhura said.
The event has launched over 180 startups in the last five years and raised more than R700m in investment and business deals.
Entry categories include health, education, agriculture, commerce, hospitality, manufacturing, entertainment, energy and logistics.
Selection and announcement of the final startups to launch at Demo Africa will be made in mid-September.
Start-ups can apply at the Venture Africa portal at www.venture-africa.com.
