Johannesburg - Some Fin24 users have expressed their dissatisfaction at Telkom after the telecoms company’s email service went down this week.
On Monday and Tuesday this week, users of Telkom’s email service reported on social media that they couldn’t access their mails.

Telkom on Monday subsequently posted an update on Facebook where it said it was working to resolve the problem.
The company also told Fin24 on Tuesday morning that it had to replace faulty hardware and that the new hardware was being synced.
Fin24 understands then that Telkom’s email service is expected to be fully functional again during Tuesday. However, it’s unclear how many people the email outage has affected.
In the meantime, Fin24 users have told of how the outage has negatively affected them.
Fin24 user Clem wrote about how the outage has hit his business:
“I have been down since yesterday 08.00. Authentication problems, they say. Pathetic, my company has come to a standstill I have no words to describe my frustration; they just don’t care! According to them it’s not a problem; I think thousands suffer the same fate!”
Fin24 user Piet said the outage has affected him since Monday as well:
“I have been down since early Monday morning and am still not live. Perhaps the time taken to remedy the problem is a signal of Telkom’s growing inefficiency?”
Fin24 user Greg, though, said the outage has affected him since Sunday:
“Been down since Sunday night... no feedback until this article and no feedback when it will be fixed.”
Another Fin24 user Colin also said that the outage had affected him since Sunday:
“I have had a problem receiving emails since Sunday evening – strangely no difficulties sending emails. The aggravating factor however is the lack of response to any enquiries from Telkom, including emails, chat room calls and phone calls where in one case after a very long wait it was clear that the person from Telkom had no idea what he was talking about and certainly had no idea about a Telkom technical problem.”
Fin24 user Ludwig wrote:
“Since Sunday. Regular occurrence with Telkom. Previous downtime 22 Dec 2015.”
