Johannesburg - Fin24 users have expressed tongue-in-cheek responses and even support for a dislike button on the social network.
On Wednesday, Fin24 reported that Facebook chief executive officer, Mark Zuckerberg, hinted that the giant social network is looking to introduce a dislike button.
Demand for the button has prompted the move, said Zuckerberg.
He also explained that the button could be used to express empathy but that he didn’t want it to abuse Facebook users either.
In the meantime, Fin24 users have responded to the move.
“Yes we need a dislike button like yesterday,” said Fin24 user Hester Brown.
In addition, Fin24 user Maurizio Mariotti said it is “high time a ‘dislike’ button is introduced.
Mariotti went on to say that other buttons he would like to see include:
“Stop following me button, get out of my face button, yo momma button (with a sub-menu of many choices), your kids and pets are ugly button and get a life button.”Fin24 user Clinton also expressed support for the dislike button.“I welcome the introduction of a dislike button on Facebook. Apart from using it in empathy eg. In reaction to a sad post, I would also use it to show my dislike of a particular post by a friend, without having to make a nasty comment. That way I can express my dislike and the person is aware of this, rather than thinking I just ignored the post.”
And finally, Fin24 user Clinton Swanepoel said he is indifferent to Facebook’s move:
“It does not truly matter Facebook is old and will lose popularity people don’t care that much about what facebook can do anymore.”
