Cape Town - Local smartphone users have come out in support of a Fin24 user who has had problems in trying to get his smartphone repaired with stories of their own.
Charles Phillipson shared his experience with the MTN Steppa:
I bought two MTN Steppas brand new from MTN for my wife and myself. After about two months the phones both gave problems, i.e. rebooting or turning off for no reason. Mine also had a faulty charging port. I took my phone back to MTN first for repairs.
After waiting nearly three months they finally replaced it with a new phone. I then handed my wife's phone in for repairs, probably just needs software re-installed. Now almost three months later they still insist that they are waiting for spares as there might be some other fault besides software.
When I asked for a refund or replacement I was told that they could give me the phone back and I could take it to someone else to have it repaired at my own cost! Why should I have to pay for repairs for a phone that is only two months old?
