Johannesburg - Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was accidentally and briefly suspended from the social network he co-founded briefly on Tuesday.
Dorsey was temporarily suspended from his microblogging brainchild when his account was reported offline for a number of hours.

Shortly after the awkward moment, his account was restored losing his over 4 million Twitter followers which have since grown to 3.3 million.
After restoring the account, Dorsey tweeted about the mistake.

It goes without saying that opportunistic users took the chance to poke fun at Dorsey's accidental suspension from the social network.
@santisiri tweeted: “@SwiftOnSecurity @jack just like the dead facebook accounts from last week. but let's play it cool for the media.”
@JFABtm responded saying: “@jack it was a publicity stunt, please don't paint us as stupid”
@ILoveNuiHarime tweeted: “@MyTinehNimjeh @jack or posted a bad joke”
It was not long before users drew comparisons to Facebook’s technical glitch just under a fortnight ago which “killed-off” numerous users. That glitch also turned Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s page into a memorial.

Twitter has experienced a bad year with numerous conglomerates who initially expressed interested in a buyout of the social network but decided not to go through with the deal.
