Johannesburg - Twitter’s new vice president of product, Keith Coleman, has tweeted has only tweeted 146 times in nine years and has less than 1 200 followers on the social network.
The embattled microblog’s CEO Jack Dorsey – who recently became the subject of internet trolling after being booted off his own social network accidentally – quoted a tweet by Twitter’s chief technology officer Adam Messinger who made the announcement regarding hiring Coleman.

Coleman comes from an experienced background with ties running through Silicon Valley, having been CEO of social networking start-up 'Yes', which was recently bought by Twitter, and product lead for Gmail, Inbox, Gchat and other Google products for 10 years, according to his Linkedin profile.
Shortly after the announcement, Coleman’s 145th tweet read: “I’m excited to announce our team is joining Twitter. Can't wait to work with @jack, @adam_messinger & team! First day is Monday - let's go!”

But questions have been asked by some press in the US - such as the Verge - and several social media users about why he has hardly used the Twitter product.
Most recently, Twitter shares plummeted after hopes faded for a buyout by major suitors such as Google’s Alphabet and Walt Disney.

In October, shares in Twitter sank 20% to close at $19.87. Later that month the company announced that it would slash 8% of the workforce, or about 300 people - the same percentage it did last year when co-founder Dorsey took over as chief executive officer.
