Cape Town - A man's escape from a Great White shark has gone viral after the video of his close encounter was published on YouTube.
The video, which shows Australian taking a swim in Sydney Harbour, is less than two minutes long, but footage filmed with a GoPro camera shows the shark swimming to within 2m of the man, who frantically tries to get out of the water.
The video has had over 10 million views on YouTube, but not everyone is convinced of the video's authenticity.
In a response, YouTube user Tim Engelbrecht says that the video has been edited to appear as if the close encounter was real.
"You'll notice that there is some severe wash - some severe white wash, severe movement in the water above," he says in the video.
The original video featured a calm Sydney Harbour, and Engelbrecht believes the footage to be fake.
