Johannesburg - The Department of Communications has received R10m as part of a digital migration push.
The money was transferred from the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, according to the Department of Communications' adjusted budget.
The adjustments have been highlighted as part of the medium term budget announcement on Wednesday.
“R10m has been transferred from the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services following the shift of the broadcasting digital migration function,” read a budget vote document.
“This will be used for promoting public awareness of digital migration,” added the document.
South Africa’s digital migration process kicked off in the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) area in the Northern Cape earlier this month.
The project has been delayed by years amid wrangling among broadcasters over specifications of television set-top boxes.
