Johannesburg - After a full day technical outage, Standard Bank has fixed the problem that affected its website and mobile app services on Monday.
The downtime marked yet another major banking glitch in South Africa over the last year.

In June this year, First National Bank (FNB) experienced downtime with its website and mobile offering amid connectivity problems.
Meanwhile in May FNB’s website also suffered a glitch.
And in December 2014, Absa customers were also left fuming amid technical downtime of that bank’s digital channels.
UPDATE - Standard Bank fixes problem
On late Monday afternoon, Standard Bank said it had fixed the problem. Reports also indicate that a server problem caused the glitch.
Earlier in the day and prior to fixing the problem, Standard Bank issued the following statement to Fin24 regarding the bank's online outage on Monday morning.
"Standard Bank is currently experiencing slow responses on some of its banking platforms. Customers will have noticed that internet banking and our app banking platform is currently not available. Also impacted is the customers’ ability to do transactions at Standard Bank branches. However, customers can still perform transactions at any of our ATM’s and point of sale devices," said the bank.
"Our technicians are currently attending to the matter. Standard Bank will inform our customers when normal service levels are restored.
"Standard Bank would like to apologies for the inconvenience that this has caused, and would like to assure our customers that everything is being done to restore services as quickly as possible," the bank added.
Customers also took to social media to express their frustration.
