Johannesburg - Standard Bank has suffered downtime on its website on Thursday morning, the second such glitch in just over a month.
On Monday morning, the bank’s website failed to load owing to a connection error.
Social media users also complained of downtime on the bank’s mobile application.
On Twitter, Standard Bank said it is “currently experiencing system issues”.
“Our technicians are working hard to fix this ASAP,” the bank responded to one user on Twitter.
UPDATE: Standard Bank, though, at midday on Thursday said it had fixed the problem.
"Standard Bank would like to apologise to clients for the disruption to some of our services today. A specialist technical team has resolved the issue and all affected systems are now online. Clients can now transact on internet Banking, the mobile App and the impacted point of sale locations," said the bank in a statement.
"We would like to reassure our clients that their overall experience with Standard Bank and the services we offer remains our top priority and we regret any inconvenience caused," the bank added.
Previous glitches
On August 3 2015, a problem with Standard Bank’s servers resulted in its online banking channels being offline for most of that day.
Meanwhile, other big banks have also suffered online glitches this year.
In June, First National Bank (FNB) experienced downtime with its website and mobile offering amid connectivity problems. In May, FNB’s website also suffered a glitch.
