Cape Town - Samsung has announced that it is opening a new brand store in Gauteng on Friday as the electronics giant moves to drive market share in South Africa.
The new store will be situated in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria and will feature some of the company's popular services, including its one hour repair service.
"This latest addition to our retail environment further demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative products and solutions to our consumers, taking the total number of Brand Stores in South Africa to 17," said Michelle Potgieter, director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics South Africa.
But while Samsung generally releases new products in SA within a short period of the global release, the Galaxy S6 Iron Man smartphone will not be coming to the country.
It is also unclear whether buying the limited release device online will guarantee that it will work on local networks.
Rival Apple has long employed branded stores as a way of driving devotion with fans who regularly congregate to examine the latest products.
The new store will also serve as touch points for consumers to engage with the brand and Samsung indicated that it will continue a strategy of opening branded stores as a way of reaching customers directly.
