Cape Town - South Africans will have the opportunity to be part of a new world record attempt and all it takes is a pout, smile and click.
The first South African attempt to win a Guinness World Record for the most number of selfies will happen at Cape Town's Canal Walk on January 31.
The record attempt will be conducted over 24 hours and participants stand the chance to win Samsung mobile prizes.
According to Guinness, the world selfie record was 657 in one hour by Lee Goodfellow on September 17 2014.
However, Yahoo News reports that American football star Patrick Peterson broke that record with a mammoth 1 449 selfies taken in just one hour in Arizona.
Whether any South Africans can match that kind of passion remains to be seen. But the preponderance of selfies on social networks indicates that locals may have a good chance of setting a record.
