Cape Town - A group of South Africans have made it to qualify for an international gaming competition where they will battle for championship glory.
The team eN.Heat is the only South African one to qualify for the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) which will be held in Paris from 29 October to 2 November.
To qualify for the international competition and a shot at the prize pool of $50 000, teams have to compete at national level.
The ESWC showcases gamers' ability in an intense competition in front of an audience of 200 000 and an internet broadcast that reaches around two million, organisers say.
Team eN.Heat qualified for the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gaming challenge and the five-member set is led by James "zerOchaNce" Wijnberg.
With his colleagues, Ruan "Elusive" van Wyk, Ashton "Golz" Muller, Thulani "LighteRTZ" Sishi and Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen, he finished on the podium in both legs of the Telkom DGL and won the Cansa Liberty LAN.
The South African team will face-off against 23 other teams from all over the world including teams from China, India, Sweden, the US, Germany and Japan.
