San Francisco - Twitter is making it easier for users to hear songs. Mobile devices can now play a song or an embedded audio sequence inside a tweet with a single tap, using a piece of software known as the Twitter Audio Card.
The first to sign up as a partner for the music streaming service is SoundCloud, a Berlin-based music streaming service, which is offering its full catalogue for streaming via tweets.
A previous Twitter music app, designed to generate more traffic from music-minded users, failed to catch on and was discontinued in April 2013.
There was later speculation Twitter might even take over SoundCloud, but the micro-blogging company has denied such ambitions.
