Cape Town – Mobile operator MTN aims to make five South Africans millionaires in a summer promotion.
Starting in October and running until January 2016, the operator will be giving away R1m a month to subscribers who transact on the MTN network.
The campaign, entitled With Love from MTN, will choose winners randomly and is aimed at building a larger network footprint for the company which has around 27.9 million subscribers in SA, trailing Vodacom at 31.5 million.
“This campaign seeks to put a smile on our customers’ faces, reward them for their loyalty and patronage and remind them of our commitment to offer them a distinct customer experience,” said Larry Annetts, chief Marketing Officer at MTN South Africa.
MTN SA reported an average revenue per user of R87.16 in the first quarter of 2015, down on the last three months of 2014.
The operator will also have to ensure that scammers do not exploit the promotion by attempting to dupe customers into thinking that they have won prizes.
