Johannesburg - Technology giant Apple on Monday unveiled upgrades for its Mac operating system and Watch software while also launching a new streaming music service.
Apple’s new operating system for Macs is dubbed ‘El Capitan’, named after a California landmark. Apple said the operating system will be available as a final software release later this year. Many of the changes are incremental and include the likes of better search capability within the operating system.
The company also announced its latest Watch software upgrade which is set to enable the development of native applications. This is expected to spur on more apps choices for Watch users.
Finally, Apple also launched a new music streaming service that is planned to be rolled out to 100 countries at first.
It’s unclear whether the streaming music service will be available in South Africa, but the service is set to cost $9.99 per month and will rival the likes of Spotify.
