Johannesburg - Telecommunications company Telkom said on Tuesday that it is extending its uncapped LTE offer to more areas across the country.
In June, Telkom launched an uncapped LTE online sale that planned to sell 24 month contracts at prices starting at R599 per month in and around Johannesburg.
At the time, the company said the packages would be “capped at 150 (customers) per base station to ensure a high quality customer experience with the service”.
The company first targeted Johannesburg areas such as Paulshof, River Club and Highlands North with the offer. Then in September, Telkom announced that more than 200 areas in Gauteng would be able to access the offer.
But on Tuesday, Telkom said the uncapped LTE offer would be expanded to “select LTE base stations across 520 sites in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and Western Cape”.
Telkom said the offer will be available from December 1 2015 to June 30 2016.
“We have seen such an uptake on these offers in Gauteng that we now see the roll out of the third phase officially making this a national offer,” said Attila Vitai, managing director of Telkom Mobile and Consumer.
The company explained that the offer at its selected LTE base stations starts at R599 for the first 50 customers, R699 for the second 50 and R799 for the final 50.
The offer also includes uncapped data for all traffic types but it does have “normal fair usage policies”.
