Nokia, feature phones and Africa

Johannesburg - Since Microsoft's takeover of Nokia, it's been a roller-coaster ride for brand loyalists.

From the best high-end camera phone on the market to a wildly popular entry-level Windows phone to hints that Microsoft would drop feature phones, things aren't dull at the former Finnish and former market-leading mobile device maker.


For now, it still dominates the African market, but alarm bells are ringing for the brand.

Leo McKay, head of communications for mobile devices at Microsoft South Africa, is in the studio to set the record straight with Arthur Goldstuck, who also looks at the role of the Nokia Lumia 630 and 1520 in driving the Windows Phone strategy.
