Johannesburg - The winners of the MTN Business App of the Year awards were announced on Thursday night in Johannesburg.
WumDrop was announced as winner in the best enterprise app category and was overall winner.
The app is aimed at delivering courier and fleet management services and allows users to drop off or pick up packages at any time or place.
Other winners at the app awards included EskomSePush which won the best breakthrough developer app category. DStv Now won the best consumer app category, Vula Mobile was named most innovative app of 2015 and CPUT Mobile was recognised as the best enterprise development app.
"We are encouraged by the level of innovation and creativity showcased at the 2015 MTN Business App of the Year Awards," said Alpheus Mangale, MTN Business South Africa chief executive officer.
"The key to this year's challenge was not to simply add another app to the current line-up, but to look for an innovative idea that is set to add value and change the way business is conducted," said Mangale.
The annual MTN Business App of the Year awards have rapidly grown since being introduced in 2012.
The awards are also the biggest of their kind in South Africa.
