Johannesburg - Instant messaging app WhatsApp has moved to install a number of updates to the service for both Android and Apple iOS users.
The changes were rolled out for both Android and Apple devices on Tuesday September 13.
Key among the updates is the ability to use Siri to send WhatsApp messages
WhatsApp - whose parent company is Facebook - is the world’s biggest instant messaging platform with over 1 billion users.
Here, then, is a list of the changes to the latest version of the app:
1. When sharing or forwarding messages, you can send to multiple chats at once. This update is available for Android and Apple iOS.
2. Chats you frequently contact now appear when forwarding or sharing messages. (Android).
3. While recording videos, you can now slide your finger up or down to zoom in and out (Android).
4. The front-facing flash now helps you capture selfies in the dark. (Android)
5. If you’re an iPhone user, you can now ask Siri to send WhatsApp messages or place WhatsApp calls (iOS 10+).
6. Answer WhatsApp calls from your lock screen, like a standard phone call (iOS 10+).
7. A widget lets you jump to a recent chat or see which chats have unread messages (iOS 10+).
8. A quick-forward button on photos and videos in chats (iOS).9. When taking photos or videos, double tap your screen to switch between the front and rear cameras (iOS).
