Johannesburg - The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch has finally arrived in South Africa and could well be one of the most versatile consoles ever made.
The Switch is a convertible console which can be handheld with its own display or played off a TV when docked.
The console comes with two controls which snap off the display of the device; they can be clipped onto a control forming a handheld unit when playing off a TV or with the display standing away.
The two controllers, which are motion controlled on a multiple axis, can also be used for pair-play with a friend.

Although the controller looks very different from tradition ones, assuming a more box shape form, it still offers a very comfortable grip.
Nintendo also offer an auxiliary controller which can be purchased separately resembling a more traditional controller and although it is hard to imagine with controllers can increase in comfort with the likes of PlayStation and Xbox controllers, the control from Nintendo offers one of the most comfortable grips ever.
Through the motion controllers, users are able to play against one another depending on the title being played.
Fin24 was fortunate enough to have been able to play the 1-2-Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild titles.
1-2-Switch turns rudimentary, in some cases, everyday tasks into almost 30 mini games including, Air Guitar, Boxing Gym, Eating Contest, Gorilla, Shave, Milk, Plate Spin, Quick Draw, Safe Crack and Samurai Training.

Each player faces one another while staring each other in the eye, completing a task related to the mini game.
1-2-Switch incorporates all the functions of the Switch through numerous games, which make use of the controllers various motions when detached from the display of the device.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a classic role playing game, in which the user, as the character Link, goes on a mission after a 100-year sleep guided by a voice to defeat the antagonist, Calamity Ganon.
To play the game, the user can either play off the device as a handheld console or dock the device and attached the Joy Con controllers to the controller unit to play off a TV.
The Nintendo Switch is probably the most versatile console ever made, with the company taking a different approach to how video games are played at home.
The Switch will offer entertainment for the whole family, but serious gamers may not see value in the console as yet, with more games still expected to be released for the Switch.
The console has been available in South Africa from March 3 with a R5 599 price tag.
