Johannesburg - More companies are introducing hybrid laptop-tablets but how does a traditional phone maker like Alcatel compete when it enters this space?
Very few of these devices actually hit the mark without being clumsy in terms of their user-friendliness - the Alcatel 2-in-1 Plus 10 is one of those device.
The device is neat and offers a feel that will make one want to use it – not to mention its convenience factor.
The Plus 10 is a slick hybrid to pull out in public and without a doubt is an impressive piece of equipment with or without its keyboard dock.
The device offers its users productivity when doing business and entertainment on the go.

The Plus 10 features a 5830mAh battery in the tablet of the device when docked, and an extra 2580 mAh battery in the keyboard.
Typically a device such as this will not be used to capture high quality photos – hence the Plus 10 features cameras for the sake of having cameras.
These cameras are functional for video calling – so do not expect a 20 megapixel camera with autofocus and wide-angle lens.
The device features a very humble 5 megapixel primary camera and a 2 megapixel facing camera.
The Plus further features a Quad Core 1.92 GHz processor with a little smaller memory of 2 GB and 32 GB of storage that can be upgraded with the use of a SD card.
For mobile office purposes, the Plus 10 is running the Windows 10 Home operating system and has a 10-inch display which offers a sufficient feel for completing that business document or sending a few important emails. But the device is not going to completely replace your office desktop – although it does put up a strong fight too.
The keyboard of the device will not leave users feeling like they’re missing a desktop PC – the typing keys are comfortable to use and large in size, comparable to regular laptop keyboard.
The mouse on the keyboard is slightly smaller than the average laptop size. Of course, considering the size of the device itself, there are no left or right buttons on the mouse, but it offers mouse gestures similar to that of a laptop.

The Plus 10 offers travelers and users needing to share entertainment with friends a theatrical experience with its HD IPS display with dual front speakers.
The device can either be faced as a regular laptop or as a display screen when turned in the opposite direction.
As a tablet, the Plus 10 can outperform many other devices. As a hybrid laptop, the device gets the job done.
Functioning as a replacement for a full laptop, the Plus 10 fulfills the role just enough, offering convenience, while packing away like a tablet.
It is definitely a great product from Alcatel and a win for users looking for a hybrid device.
