HTC's next smartphone leaked a day ahead of launch

Johannesburg  - The highly anticipated next smartphone from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been leaked online with a full set of specifications available for the ‘HTC U’ on some websites a day ahead of its launch.

Speculation on social media exists as to whether HTC will call they next device the ‘U’, ‘U Ultra’ or even just the ‘Ultra’. Other suggestions are that the device will be called the ‘Ocean Note’.

However, the device is expected to boast impressive features setting a new trend for smartphones released in 2017.

A teaser video from the company showed that the next device will be launched on Thursday.

Mobile database site, GSMArena, have reported that the device will feature 64GB storage, a 1440x2560 pixel resolution, 24 megapixel dual-camera, 16 megapixel rear camera, Snapdragon 835 processor and a 4000mAh battery.

The device is expected to be a phablet smartphone with a 6-inch display.

It’s also purported that the company has gone the Apple route in ditching their 3.5mm headphone jack, as seen in the iPhone 7.

@OnLeaks on Twitter, renown for making accurate predictions about mobile products tweeted: “Got it from an unverified source but I put that here anyway... ??#HTC Ocean Note = HTC U Ultra = 6" display = no 3.5mm Jack...”

The latest arrival from HTC will be the successor to the very subtly marketed HTC 10 which was one of the most underrated devices released in 2016.

The device featured a fast processor with a 12 megapixel primary camera, and just like previous devices a selfie camera that mirrors the quality of the rear one.

It offered a 1440x2560 resolution and 3000mAh battery.
