Hisense launches R2 999 smartphone in SA

Johannesburg - Chinese manufacturer Hisense is pushing aggressively into the South African mobile market with the launch of two new smartphones at competitive prices. 

The Infinity Faith 1 and Infinity Elegance 1 were unveiled to the local market at an event in Johannesburg on Tuesday night.

The Faith 1 device comes into the market at a price of R2 999, boasting high-end features but competing in the mid-range segment. 

The device features the Android Marshmallow operating system along with a 5.0 inch HD display. 

It runs off a 1.4 GHz Octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16 gigabytes of internal storage.

The device also features a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel facing camera with a 2 500mAh battery. 

Devices with a similar price point do not normally encompasses features such as a metal frame, fingerprint recognition and gesture control. 

However, the Faith 1 breaks the mold in including these features. 

The Hisense Faith 1

The higher spec device - the Elegance 1 - is priced at R3 999. At this price point, it is likely to be one of the cheapest phablets available right now. 

The Hisense Elegance 1

The device features a full HD 5.5 inch display, 3GB of RAM and a 3 000mAh battery. These are the only specs that set it apart from the Faith 1. 

The Elegance 1 features high-end specs at a lower costs.

Both devices boast faster charging. However, the Elegance 1 sports a slightly smaller battery than most other phablets. It also supports a larger display.

Meanwhile, the battery in the Elegance 1 might offer a similar battery life to most smartphones today – about a day or so on medium usage.

Both devices are available at local retailers.
