Johannesburg - While Samsung is currently marketing its Galaxy S7 devices, rumours around the company’s next flagship S8 continue to spread.
The latest development is that the South Korean company’s next iconic device will feature its own AI assistant.

On Sunday, the company announced its agreement to acquire artificial intelligence platform, Viv Labs.
Viv developed an open artificial intelligence platform that gives third-party developers the opportunity to use and build conversational assistants and integrate a natural language-based interface into renowned applications and services.

“The deal showcases Samsung’s commitment to virtual personal assistants and is part of the company’s broader vision to deliver an AI-based open ecosystem across all of its devices and services,” a statement read.
“With Viv, Samsung will be able to unlock and offer new service experiences for its customers, including one that simplifies user interfaces, understands the context of the user and offers the user the most appropriate and convenient suggestions and recommendations,” it went further to say.

Meanwhile, the online resource for GSM handset information, GSMArena, already have a full specifications guide listed on their sites for the Galaxy S8.
According to the website, the S8 will feature a 5.1 inch display, 1440x2560 pixel resolution, 12 megapixel rear camera and the Snapdragon 830 with 6GB RAM.
The S7 and S7 Plus devices were announced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, with rumors suggesting history may repeat itself at MWC 2017.
