Alcatel unveils 3 new smartphones and a tablet

Barcelona - Mobile manufacturer, Alcatel has released three new smartphones aimed at the youth market and an upgrade to the Plus 10 two-in-one device.

The company official made the announcement of the four new devices at an event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Alcatel announced the launch of the A3, A5 and U5 smartphones alongside the tablet-laptop hybrid - the Plus 12.

In one of the most interesting releases - the A5 LED is the world’s first interactive LED-covered smartphone which allows users to customise the LEDs on the rear of the device for notifications, alerts and to set themes.

“The A5 LED is ideal for people who value having fun and letting their personality shine, ” said William Dowie, portfolio management director of Alcatel said.

The A5 LED features 4G LTE connectivity and an octa-core processor with a 5.2-inch HD display.

The device features a 5 megapixel facing camera with flash and an 8 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone flash.

The A3 smartphone comes fitted with a fingerprint scanner, 5 megapixel front camera also with a flash and a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash.

The device features a 5-inch HD, 4G LTE connectivity and a quad-core processor.

Alcatel’s more affordable offering - the U5, reminiscent of a smartphone from 5 years ago, also features a 5-inch display with 4G LTE connectivity.

The device features a 5 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel selfie camera.

“The U5 is the perfect choice for the first-time smartphone buyer who wants a snappy smartphone with some really fun camera experiences included,” Dowie said.

Alcatel also announced their powerful Plus 12 device a larger version of the Plus 10 laptop tablet - which now features 12-inch full HD display and the Windows 10 operating system.
