Cape Town - If you break the glass panels on your Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, you no longer need to consider throwing yourself under a bus: Samsung is offering to repair it for free.
The electronics giant announced on Tuesday that it would offer Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) Premium cover for its latest phones, limited to the first 12 months of ownership.
"The premium provision offers Smart Swap - a benefit which includes a loan device while the smartphone is being repaired," Samsung Electronics SA said of its offer.
In addition, the company has offered 100GB of free internet cloud storage with Microsoft's OneDrive as well as 2GB of free Wi-Fi internet access per month at AlwaysOn hotspots.
"The Microsoft OneDrive is pre-loaded on the Galaxy S6 range, meaning consumers can simply access the app on their smartphone and use the free storage whenever they are online," Samsung said.
Brand value
You also get free offline navigation with the latest Samsung Galaxy smartphones through Garmin.
The offers mirror those offered for previous Samsung flagship devices, as the company launches the Iron Man branded Galaxy S6 Edge worldwide on Wednesday.
HTC in the US also offers screen repairs through its Uh Oh Protection programme. These programmes help to cement brand value for smartphones in the minds of consumers.
Samsung has also worked to build its brand by offering a door-to-door service for repairs as well as guaranteeing faster repairs at centres located in shopping malls in major cities.
