The fault results in users being unable to use their devices or access their applications.
Several users across the globe have also complained of having to ‘wipe’ their devices of all its data.
iOS 9 became available as a free update for iPhone, iPad & iPod touch users on September 16.
To date, Apple has not commented on the problems with the iOS upgrade.
Meanwhile, Fin24 users have told of their troubles with the software upgrade.
Fin24 user Joseph wrote:
“Apple update crashes all applications. Facebook, LinkedIn, and other apps crash the minute one tries to expand the app.”
Fin24 user Molefe has also experienced problems.
“Two iPhones 6+ crashed while I was trying to update the software, fortunately they were still covered by the out of box failure warranty by that time. Where’s Jobs when you need him.”
Fin24 user Stanley also said the upgrade negatively affected his wife’s Apple device.
“My wife’s phone cannot WhatsApp, message, search internet etc since upgrade done today, and the Apple store has the audacity to say we must wait until we can get an appointment with technicians. Earliest is Sunday evening at Waterfront, Cape Town.”
Fin24 user Geoff complained that the latest Apple update tells him his phone is a “jailbreak”, when he says it actually isn’t.
“Apple upgrade has some apps sending me a message that they will not function on a jailbreak device. All my devices are brand new; two are a week old and have not been subjected to jailbreak.”
