Johannesburg - First National Bank (FNB) has enabled free WhatsApp use for users of its mobile network.
Last year, the bank launched FNB Connect which rides on Cell C’s network as a mobile virtual network operator.
Since launch, the bank says its mobile network service has attracted over 200 000 users while last month FNB Connect activated 4G.
And now the company is running its data-free WhatsApp promotion from May 1 to July 31 2016.
“Enhancing our customers’ communication needs by offering services that are relevant and innovative is a key objective for us,” said Shadrack Palmer, chief commercial officer of FNB Connect in a statement.
The bank has further said that customers with a Connect SIM can also access FNB’s electronic banking platforms such as online banking, the FNB App, cellphone banking and eWallet without incurring any data charges.
