Cape Town – Ton Vosloo has stepped down as Naspers non-executive chairperson.
Vosloo, who has been associated with the company since 1956, will be replaced by Koos Bekker. Vosloo worked for 23 years as chairperson and oversaw Naspers' growth into a leading multimedia company.
In a farewell message to the company Vosloo said: “Naspers and associates are in very good shape. As a journalist of the old school I learnt to avoid adjectives. So in leaving, it suffices to say what a great group of companies, led by a wise board plus top-class management, and bolstered by thousands of the very best colleagues one can hope to be associated with”.
The Naspers share price recently surged through the R2 000-mark on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) helped by its 34% stake in Chinese internet company Tencent.
