Johannesburg - ICT solutions company Datatec, which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), says it has acquired 100% of the issued share capital of German technology firm Inforsacom.
Datatec subsidiary Logicalis signed agreements to seal the acquisition deal, according to a company announcement on Tuesday.
The acquisition is subject to approval by German competition authorities and the South African Reserve Bank. But Datatec says the deal is expected to be finalised in January 2015.
The Datatec Group has revenues of over $5bn and more than 7 500 employees worldwide with operations in over 50 countries. Three focus areas for the group include technology, integration and consulting.
Meanwhile, Inforsacom is a German ICT services company that specialises as a provider of database, storage and infrastructure solutions across major economic hubs in Germany.
“The acquisition will significantly enhance Logicalis’ scale and capabilities in the German ICT market. Inforsacom has an annual turnover of approximately $140 million and employs 160 staff,” says a statement from Datatec.
Jens Montanana, who is Datatec’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “The acquisition of Inforsacom creates a larger platform with broader ICT services capabilities to augment Logicalis’ existing German operations, in line with the strategy of growing our presence in Europe.”
