Fin24 user Amanda feels it is unfair that pensioners must suffer because of the low interest rate. She writes:
I have saved for the years to my retirement. My RA paid out much less than I anticipated - due to the economy, I was told.
I supplemented my income from the interest I received on my savings and fixed deposits. As the interest rates dropped, my monthly income dropped.
Why must people who have saved and never had debt be penalised so that other people can continue to live beyond their means, because getting credit is so cheap?
Why can't the goverment not give pensioners who worked hard all their lives so that they could have a decent retirement, a better interest rate on our money?
