Cape Town - August is Women's Month and Fin24 will be
celebrating women in business by giving them a voice as contributors to the
economy and leaders in their own right.
Many women face adversity at work daily - from
discrimination, sexual harassment and sidelining to unequal treatment in terms
of pay, working hours and job expectations.
Then they still have to go home to a full-time job tending
to their family's needs.
For Women's Month, Fin24 aims to feature at least one woman
guest columnist each day to shed light on the issues women have to deal with,
as well as celebrate the tremendous job women are doing in every area of the
South African spectrum.
As our first columnist to be featured on Wednesday asks:
"At the risk of generalising, why is it that so often women step up when
nobody else seems to care?
"It seems extraordinary when you consider that in South
Africa women are most likely to be poor, least likely to have an education and
least likely to find employment.
"They are most likely to suffer at the hands of an
abuser."
Fin24 would like to give users a voice to celebrate women.
Send us your thoughts and you could feature as a guest columnist
on our site during August. All correspondence must be accompanied with a
picture of the writer.
