Cape Town – Fin24 reported that some local property companies found holiday makers – both local and international – were prepared to up to R100 000 a night to stay in platinum level villas along premium spots in Cape Town this festive season.
Among the exclusive properties situated along the Mother City's Atlantic Seaboard, Fin24 managed to get a peek inside a prestigious Clifton residence that obtained in the region of R120 000 to R150 000 a night during the past holiday season, according to Keegan Lewis, CEO of LVCT Group, a luxury property marketing and management company, which specialises in luxury villa rentals.
Fin24 ran a Twitter poll, asking users if they would fork out R150 000 to live in luxury with spectacular views for just a day; or what would they rather do with R150 000 instead of spending it on accommodation.
Have look at what some of the respondents had to say.
"I would attend auctions and buy commercial land or consider developing either a factory or space for storage," wrote Fin24 user Carina-Ann.
She noted that if she has enough money, then she would buy a large residential property and plan a compound that affords a self-sufficient lifestyle for a large family, which would include workshops and studios.
Carina-Ann also suggested a one level dwelling for elderly persons and a private apartment. She also imagined buying land to cultivate farm produce with the aim of passing on these skills to the younger generation.
