Fin24 has been inundated with responses from users who have received fake emails from scamsters pretending to be from the South African Revenue Service (Sars).
Fin24 user Pamela writes:
I have received one ( a fake email) stating that I'm owed Sars R4 235.00 by Sars, and that I should press on link to put in my banking details in order for the money to be paid in.
The strangest of them all is that they requested my card number, which I punched in and felt stupid when they were requesting my pin.
Immediately I called in and asked Sars about this. Only then did I learn I am the one who has an outstanding amount to pay to Sars and I was almost robbed/scammed.
